1. Tour of Erfurt (approx. 50 km away)

3. Buchenwald memorial site (approx. 60 km)
The Buchenwald memorial site is a place of historical enlightenment. In an area of 1600 m² there is a large exhibition in which evidence of the crimes of National Socialism is exhibited and gives an insight into the reality of this camp. Group tours can be held by prior arrangement. You are recommended to plan 3 hours for a visit including a guided tour.

4. Fairy grottoes (approx. 70 km)
The fairy grottoes in Saalfeld are the most colourful of their kind in the world, a fact which has even brought them an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. 200,000 visitors a year come to Saalfeld to visit the fairy grottoes.
